Thermal Spray Masking Tapes, Fabrics and Compounds are designed to resist grit blast, wire arc spray, flame spray, plasma spray and HVOF spray coatings.
Plasma Spray Masking Tapes

Available in 170-10S YL, 170-10S Red, 170-10S Green, 170-10S CL, 170-20S YL, 170-20S Green, 170-20S Red, this family of plasma spray masking tapes resists the high temperatures of the plasma spray coating process. All plasma spray tapes are constructed with silicone rubber coated fiberglass tape with a silicone polymer adhesive.
Features:
- Superior mechanical and thermal protection
- Excellent resistance to cut through and abrasion
- Silicone adhesive system for superior adhesion to metal and “face to back”- Releases cleanly from metal surfaces
- The 170-10S Red Plasma Tape allows for improved heat resistance, lower grit retention on the surface and lower finger tack while still offering high adhesion to metal and face-to-back adhesion. It has a modified adhesive to cope with the prolonged dwell times of ceramic coating.
- The 170-10S CL Plasma Tape has a flat clear liner for high “Quickstick” and easier removal of liner- The 170-20S saves time while taping when two plies are needed
- HVMT Orange tape is designed for masking with HVOF gas-fuelled systems. Its advantage compared with competitive materials is that it soft and flexible and conforms well to difficult contours.
Best Suited For:
- Grit Blasting
- Twin Wire Arc Spray
- Flame Spray
- Plasma Spray Coatings
Thermal Spray Masking Compound

When the use of masking tapes and fabrics becomes difficult due to challenging geometrical shapes and profiles, Masking Compounds often provide the best solution.
HVMC is a unique two-part silicone putty that allows operators to mask holes, keyways, channels, and depressions. HVMC is also ideal for producing reusable plugs and moulds. This compound bonds well to all GBI silicone coated glass tapes to provide a mask resistant to all forms of surface treatment including the most powerful forms of HVOF (High Velocity Oxy Fuel) spray systems.
